Sometimes I am asked how I came up with the name of the organization. It is long so I can understand why people might wonder. Lovely Lita was one of our very special squirrel friends. When I was naming the organization I wanted her name to be part of it. Then I heard this song and thought how appropriate it was to use sheltering tree, since squirrels and trees have such a relationship anyway, and the song uses the term for friends who will help you through thick and thin. So the name was born.
