Sometimes I think I am living in a dual-reality zone. Michigan is - TopicsExpress

Sometimes I think I am living in a dual-reality zone. Michigan is that zone. In one zone, there are calls to tax ourselves back to prosperity. In another, the U.N. calls Detroits water shutoffs a violation of international human rights. To meld these into one zone that makes any sense at all, I suppose that we should transfer wealth from one zone to the other, so as to lift the entire boat into prosperity. But what if the poor choose to buy new smartphones rather than pay water bills? Shall we transfer more wealth? Are we still subject to a U.N. rights panel? And what if those with wealth prefer to move out of utopia into a utopia with a more reasonable confiscation rate? Shall we pass laws forbidding the escape from utopia? Ah, the contradictions of a dual-reality zone.
