Sometimes Little Things Are Big Things... Normally we post big things on our facebook page that have dramatic stories, pictures or videos associated with them. So it will probably seem a little strange that weve posted an undramatic video of a cat eating. Theres a reason - here it is: This cat, named Salem, hasnt eaten for a month. Salem came to us from one of our shelters as a sick cat a month ago who quickly got sicker on us. Unfortunately, Salem wasnt vaccinated, so when he came into the system he was quickly exposed to a bunch of the viral cat diseases that we vaccinate for. Unfortunately he actually got all of them - at the same time! FURTI/herpes virus, calicivirus and panleukopenia (cat parvo). So Salem has been occupying a kennel in our ICU for the past 4 weeks more or less trying to die on us and nearly succeeding. His feeding tube was dislodged a couple of days ago but as he appeared to finally be improving we elected not to replace it and see what happened. What happened the next day is on the video. Hopefully he will be going home tomorrow.
