Sometimes in the midst of a debate I have a hard time articulating some of the football concepts Ive learn because its the first time Ive had to explain them to someone, Im a film/scouting eval junkie. Football is a such a chess match. I cant get enough of it. So heres one a listing a attributes that scouts are looking for in a wideout. there are more but these are the major categories... 1. Short area quickness- should be self explanatory, but Wes Welker in his prime is a good example of it. 2.Release of the LOS: Santana Moss was a legend in NFL ciricles in this area(in his prime) 3. Quickness in and out of breaks: Right now no one does better than A.Brown 4. General route running ability: Brown and Hilton are two of the best 5. Run after the catch: jordy is really good at this, so is Calvin and AB again Dez is too 6.Ball skills: Moss might have been the greatest of all time at this if the ball came near him he caught it. Obviously size strength and speed are considered but those are general to every player. The ones I listed are position specific. Ill be doing more of these. Can you think of guys that excel in these areas?
