Sometimes life goes by in a trickle, and sometimes life goes by in - TopicsExpress

Sometimes life goes by in a trickle, and sometimes life goes by in a flood. Its in the rainy seasons that you find out how well you can swim. Ive watched some kids play in a little bit of dirt behind my yard a few times since Ive moved in. (Kids are funny, give them a new sandbox, but theyd rather have the bit of dirt instead.) Anywho, we havent had much rain this season, and they had left all of these old and new buckets scattered all over. What got me thinking, is looking at those buckets... The new ones held water, and probably some West Nile as well, and the grass around them was yellow and dying. But the old ones, that had holes, were empty and the grass was green around them. I thought how I can be like one of those buckets. Im not shiny and new, Im more like the old, dented, full of holes buckets. But its those nicks and dents and imperfections that allow us to flow out and relate to the scars and imperfections of others, our suffering that connects us to the heart of someone else. So then we have to ask ourselves every day who we want to be? Ready to hold in everything that comes our way, or ready to pour out and be refilled with each new rain? Closed to the world, or open to new possibilities?
