Sometimes reality has a way of sneaking up and biting us in the ass. And when the dam bursts, all you can do is swim. The world of pretend is a cage, not a cocoon. We can only lie to ourselves for so long. We are tired, we are scared, and denying it doesnt change the truth. Sooner or later we have to put aside our denial and face the world, head on, guns blazing... Denial. Its not just a river in Egypt. Its a freakin ocean. So how do you keep from drowning in it? We never will understand The key to surviving a surgical internship is denial. We deny were tired, we deny that were scared, we deny how badly we want to succeed. And most importantly, we deny that were in denial. We only see what we want to see and believe what we want to believe, and it works. We lie to ourselves so much that after a while the lies start to seem like the truth. We deny so much that we cant recognize the truth... right in front of our faces. So what this is the life we meant to live? This is how should we live? No! So What is the purpose of our lives? What becomes of our life when we die? No matter how much power and authority one might wield now, these become meaningless in the face of death. In the end, the only thing that is important is how one has lived one’s life. We alone must face the consequences of our actions and decisions. When one understands the strict law of cause and effect at work in life, one will inevitably come to correct one’s way of living.
