Sometimes really cool things happen when you least expect them to. Ive been having such a hard time finding a job since I graduated (a full-time job, I should say), and after my interview this past Friday, I started thinking that maybe I would be better off going back to school instead. My mom gave me a packet of LSAT prep and info on GSU. I browsed online for childrens advocacy programs because Im most interested in family law and thought it might be a good place to start looking and to get a feel for the kinds of things I might encounter in family law. I found an advocacy program in Carroll county and on a whim emailed the contact us, more info link they provided. Not expecting much from it, I went into work tonight. Lo and behold, the bartender found me tonight and said, Theres a woman from the advocacy program you emailed earlier today at the bar. She wants to talk to you. Holy crap. Not only did she get my email, she read my resume, came to my job for a meal, and sought me out. I spoke with her briefly and she said that the program doesnt have any immediate openings for interns or volunteers, but that she was personally intrigued with my resume and had emailed the director of the program about following-up with me. How awesome is that? Im going to take it as a sign that this is the direction I should be taking, and see where this takes me. I have to say, I feel really relieved after tonight. Maybe theres hope after all, Elizabeth Mathis!
