Sometimes we need a reminder that this old world isnt all bad...heres my most recent story of random kindness. About a month ago, a woman (a stranger to me) came into my office and asked if it would be okay if she paid another persons water bill. I told her of course, and she explained that this individual had recently done something very nice for her family and had refused to take any sort of payment for this act of kindness, so the idea of paying off some sort of bill for them popped into her head. I told her I thought that was one of the coolest ideas I had heard, and she ended up paying the bill with a little extra thrown in, leaving a credit balance for the person. When I sent out bills a couple of weeks ago, this individual came in when they received theirs and asked why it was showing a credit balance. I told them about the woman and about what she had said about the act of kindness and how she had wanted to find a way to say thank you. The reaction from this individual was priceless. Speechless and blown away and Im not ashamed to say that we both got a little teary-eyed. The individual had no idea who the woman might have been, so you never know when some small act of kindness or compassion might make a mighty impact on another human being. :-)
