Sometimes when youre sedated from taking flu pill, you can run out - TopicsExpress

Sometimes when youre sedated from taking flu pill, you can run out of things to say. Its a good time to write a #20factsaboutme since Ade Unay tagged me in Instagram: (it does not get any more narcissistic than this!) LOL 1. When I lived in Wilmington, Delaware, I shared a house with 12 guys from India. I was hungry often, and one of them shared with me a sambar which he cooked himself. (chickpeas in a curry). I never forget that and hold high regards for Indians until today. 2. I did a laser lipolysis before because I got tired of taking Hydroxycut. The doctor cut 4 incisions in the front and back of the abs area, and inserted a tube which had laser burning the fat cells from inside. Then I took a bike home. 3. The downside of (2) is that now if I over-eat, my face gets tembam easily since there are no more fat cells at my tummy. 3. I have had at least 5 motorbike accidents. The damage is that I cannot lift at the gym without my knee hurting. But I like riding motorcycle. it runs in my veins. 4. Until recently, I had always felt that moving in and out of the country was a normal thing and never gave it a second thought. Until I started getting new friends on Facebook who made me realize there are people outside who see this as a novelty. Which is why I now share my scenery photos here. It was annoying at first, but I realize now that without them, my life here would be so ordinary and boring. 5. Because I went to a Catholic school, I never really had Malay friends until I entered college. 10 at most maybe. And I annoyed other people because I was saying hi all the time (I think they were expecting something more religious which I still cannot do naturally now). Someone got so annoyed he threw a garbage can cover at me... LOL. 6. It takes me 2x longer to compose a status in Malay and some people have written to me thinking Im writing in Indonesian because I literally translate every thought from English. 7. Given a chance to pick my favorite country to visit, I would say Indonesia any time. 8. Whenever I go shopping in KL, I speak in Malay. Because when I speak English, Im confused how much of the accent I need to tone down so people wont think mat saleh celop. In the end my English sounds too funny like some Ah Beng trying to speak American. 9. I am a sucker for travel bargains. Sometimes they turn out good, sometimes unbearable. In fact, I just bought a cheap train ticket to Venice for next month but now regretting like crazy because I discovered sitting in a second-class 6-people compartment, staring at each others face, for 11 hours will not be fun AT ALL. 10. I like mangoes. All kinds of mangoes. Mango with kicap, mango with asam, mango in a rojak sauce. But the little sour ones drive me nuts. (I stopped eating mangoes here because they cost like 3 euros a piece. LOL) 11. I have been wearing t-shits and trackpants since I was in college. I cant throw them away for the life of me. All my trackpants come from Malaysia because I dont like the thick European ones. 12. When I was 16, Mensa tested my IQ to be 172 (99.9th percentile). Now if I try to take one of those Facebook IQ tests, Im lucky to reach 120. Incidentally, the same goes to my bowling scores then and now. 13. Throughout my entire career in Malaysia, which was on and off, my best job ever was working for this very talented team of Malay engineers. We spent days and nights together, even during holidays sometimes without regard for official work times and locations. 14. Once I was looking at Macbooks at the snotty Pavilion mall, but the salesman treated me like I couldnt afford one. So I went to Lot 10, paid cash for a 13 Macbook Air and walked back into the Pavilion, and bought a mouse from him. Well too bad, this fat commission could have been yours. 15. My favorite part of KL is Brickfields or Little India. Its as unglamorous and unpretentious as it can be. 16. I buy stuff from pasar malam whenever Im in Malaysia. 17. My dream car used to be a Hyundai Sonata. Now its none, since I found taking public transportation is more fun and healthy. 18. Once I ate in Harrods (KLCC) in a pair of singlets and slippers and the waiters stared me up and down, probably checking if I stole any of the utensils.. LOL. 19. When I was in college, away from my parents, I tried to smoke twice (in different years) to be cool. On both occasions, I fell sick for a week. Then I stopped trying. 20. Many times before, I had lost all hopes. Then a friend of mine told me, I needed to be strong for my children. That friend, I found out recently, had died after fighting against her breast cancer for 12 years.
