Sometimes you have to admire the team you are up against and Pace - TopicsExpress

Sometimes you have to admire the team you are up against and Pace really did give us a football lesson at times. That said I dont think anyone was surprised by the result. Pace Cougars are well drilled team with a squad of exceptional players. Some of the goals they scored were high quality, which as a manger / coach you have to stand back and admire. What did frustrate me was the sloppy goals that we gifted them by poor mistakes. Now I accept that mistakes are made, its how we learn from them that determines how quickly we move forward. So having played the best team in the city in our debut game in tyro, sounds daunting and yes I guess it was, but I and this will sound strange but I thought we played well at times, granted we were on the back foot most of the game, but we battled, competed, tried to hit them on the break and did threaten them on a couple of occasions. The effort that the team put in was at times very good, however the lads will now understand the level that will be needed to compete at this level. The level of fitness is there, but I think we will need to work on a few other areas before we can be competitive against these sort of top level teams. The pace manager had nothing but positive things to say about us, and he also cant understand why like most of all the other managers I have spoken why we have been put into the top league in only our second season. Just to mention both Bradley Noke and Reece who I thought both put in exceptional performances today. So the charter mark has now been set, I have learnt loads from todays game, and I hope that the lads have as well. Now we look for a reaction in training and move forward to the next game.
