Sonkes Jean-Marie Nkurunziza represented us at a regional experts meeting entitled, “Restoring families as the Pillar of Development in Africa”, hosted by the Parenting in Africa Network (PAN) in partnership with Investing in Children and their Societies Africa (ICS - Africa). The meeting, with over sixty participants from nine countries across Africa, marked the 20th anniversary of the International Year of the Family. Among other topics discussed, was the aim to guide African Union Member States in designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating appropriate national policies and programmes for the family on the basis of their specific requirements and needs.
