Soo another rant. Im reading the book The devil in the white city which basically talks about the prideful Chicago and how it was given the honor of hosting the elaborate world’s fair. Chicagoans wanted it to be so big and glamorous and so exotic that visitors came away believing no exposition could surpass it” Now, while thats a great thing... Chicago was a sad place, pride built skyscrapers and landed the title for the best fair, and at the same time, it also reserved the spot for the most grotesque of places. Im talking about murder, crime, and disease rates. That was around the late 1800s. Were kind of living that now, too. Were so eager and excited on impressing everyone with how beautiful our city is that we cover up all the injustices that happens around us. Its kind of sad how capitalism works. The rich move up and up, while anyone below them is not really allowed to experience life to its full capacity.
