Soon the Museum will be hosting the Canterbury Quakes exhibition which will serve as a poignant reminder of the earthquakes that devastated Christchurch in 2010 and 2011. It is also a reminder that our region is no stranger to the destructive power of major seismic events. In our downstairs exhibition gallery we have a display recalling the 1929 Murchison and 1968 Inangahua earthquakes. Make sure you visit this fascinating display and all our other exhibits when you come to see the Canterbury Quakes exhibition open from 1 March to 31 May 2014
