Soooooo I am NOT good at poems and other similar literary styles. But, I wrote this today anyways. Good or outright horrendous, it is what it is. Just dont laugh too hard at the attempt! ;) Oh this masquerade of mine. I smile and laugh and pretend Im fine. I cry by night and smile by day, hoping and praying these feelings wont stay. Knowing that things really arent quite right, but reluctant to reveal what is hidden by sight. I fight against my own body when really my mind is the worst enemy. This facade, it helps to keep me from crumbling when, in my weakest hour I cant keep from stumbling. I am learning to leave my mask behind, to show my true self and not feel maligned. Betrayed by a body not quite so whole, I am learning to embrace my broken soul. I find beauty in the quiet hour of night, in the healing and revealing hidden by sight when the masks come off and Im free to be, be me, be wild, so wondrous and free. No constraints or limits or apologies made, this is me living, with no masks and no games. -Rebekah Dorr
