Sorry :-(( I have a shitty subject to bring up. Im only doing to help. As you all know my mother had a bad stroke she is nothing more then a one-year-old child right now she is at home we have a 24 hour care person living with her, its not easy and its not cheap. I just figured I would make some notes and tell everybody some of the possible problems and solutions This is what I think you need to have ready before your last parent becomes incapacitated or passes away: minimum have this --Living Will --Regular Will --Guardianship for parent --Durable Power Of Attorney --Access and or on the bank accounts Below is a little bit of what things are and why you need them. --Living Will::: Living Will is if your parent becomes incapacitated who has the authority to do some things but they dont cover everything. -- Regular Will::: A regular Will will say which way things are divided up and stuff like that after they pass away. --Guardianship for parent::: this will give you powers to make decisions when it comes to the care and medical attention for your parents, yes the Living will sometimes has this in it --Durable Power Of Attorney::: this gives somebody the power to get into bank accounts sell houses, list houses in that kind of stuff. If you have this you can sign for your parent. You definitely need to get one of these in place now. of course your parent would have to sign it but it would be pretty easy to get a copy from Kevin and then get your parent to sign it and have it notarize. --Access and or on the bank accounts with you parent::: if something happens to your parent you can use the money to take care of things, not to mention if your parent becomes incapacitated and they have a retirement check coming in, if you need to pay for stuff you can get to the money. If your parent passes away The bank will freeze the account once the death certificate gets recorded, so you have to have a plan to withdraw money right away if they pass away so that you can pay for things. Kevin is a attorney and a friend of mind. He can take care of most of this type of stuff for you in this type of situation, if you need his number I will provide his office number I only have his personal cell phone nowi
