Sorry I forgot to copy and paste Jims journal entry from Wednesday. Happy New Year from Fargo! By Lori Schulte — Jan 1, 2015 3:37pm Lori and I have been in Fargo all week for week #6 of my treatment. I had radiation on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and will have radiation again tomorrow (Friday) morning prior to leaving for home. As of tomorrow, I will have 27 radiation treatments behind me, and 8 treatments remaining. I had my fifth chemo infusion yesterday, and may have one more infusion next week. We met with both Dr. Jensen and Dr. Snow this week. Both doctors were very pleased with my progress so far, and are very optimistic that I can finish. My blood work has remained very good for the amount of chemo that I have been getting, and I have been holding up quite well considering the location and the amount of radiation that I have been getting. My throat has been very sore at times, but seems to be better this week. My skin is starting to get burned on my neck and leading down to my upper chest area. They indicate that it will continue to get worse, and will likely start to peel. I look at it as a very expensive tanning booth!! I still have a very large jug of liquid oxycodone that I have yet to tap into. Both doctors caution that things can still get ugly fast, and also the two to three weeks after the last treatment will likely be tough prior to turning the corner and beginning recovery. Lori and I are enjoying New Years Day at Franks house in Fargo. We made lasagna and enjoyed the company of Kayla and Landon Lechler. We are looking forward to returning home tomorrow. I believe that 2015 is going to be a good year. Three years in a row we have had to bear the news that You Have Cancer! This has to be the year that we beat it!! My doctors seem to be very impressed with my progress and the stamina I have retained. They attribute a lot of it to keeping my nutrition level strong, and fighting fatigue by walking several times a week. The secret weapon that they are unaware of is the huge support team we have with all of our family, friends, co-workers and community members. We literally have people following my progress and offering prayers and support from all across the country. We have been overwhelmed with all of the cards, calls, gifts and offers to help out in so many ways. My progress has truly been the result of thousands of people, and can be considered a true community project. Thank you to everyone and good luck and best wishes in the New Year!! Jim and Lori
