Sorry I havent gotten on here earlier, but as Pattie has - TopicsExpress

Sorry I havent gotten on here earlier, but as Pattie has explained, there has been a lot of stuff going on around Talco the past few months. There has been some question about how this all got started, so Ill just start from there as best I can, it all happened pretty quick at first. Ryan had met mowed for the previous owner of the school, and had gotten to know him from that point, could be before. I had retired back in February and couldnt stand seeing all the grass growing and just making our school that had been beaten up by knocking out the windows, painted on the inside of the walls, the lady that had owned the building before this other guy, (which she did the most damage in my opinion) so I just decided to take a little time and start mowing it, at that point, I had a lot of time! I called the owner at that time, and he said do what I wanted as far as mowing and keeping her looking decent. Later on, Ryan was approached by a man (Shawn Songer) and his wife Mandy, they wanted to look the school over. Ryan had a key to get in. Ryan called me up to the school, cause it sounded like something was in the making. (trying to keep this short as possible!!) We showed them the building several times, and come to find out, they were very interested in purchasing the building, and putting a baseball training/camp/fields...etc. Ryan and I was pretty skeptical at first, but they kept coming, checking it out, more people looking, investors which I cant name at this time. So more and more it started looking like a possibility. eventually the building was purchased, not sure if its owned just by Shawn, or a group, doesnt matter to me, just what they want to do is all I need to know. they kept telling Ryan and I as we worked with them for a couple months behind the scenes, that they wanted to put the school put back to as much of its original glory as it could be. They even wanted to use the old football lockers as they are. Ryan and I invited Shawn and Mandy to our July 4th celebration, after it was over, Mandy and Shawn said, this is the place were looking for. They really complimented how the community worked together to put this event on. After a few rounds with Shawn on my Ranger, it was easy to see they were wanting to do quite a bit more than just fix the school, looking at what buildings we had to put some businesses in. Thats where we are now, the big building just south of me next to 71, corner of loop 96 and 71, is going to be called Talco Woodworks. There will actually be two businesses in one there, one called veneer solutions, the other end will be where they will construct major league baseball bats. they already do them now, bats out of Italy, called mine bat, using a different stronger wood, called beechwood. Youll be seeing a lot of movement going on there most likely next week. Its being fogged right now so any spiders, bugs and such will be out of the way. The previous offices will be taken out, hopefully used in some of the re construction of the old buildings downtown that Johnny Jones and others hes hired to help have been busting their tails reviving our old downtown. The other business downtown in the old bank, is where the caulking piece will be made. There will most likely be opportunity for jobs at these businesses in the near future. I know it sounds too good to be true, but this thing has grown since Ryan and I met Shawn. So far, Shawn and Mandy have shown us no reason not to believe in them, not saying anything cant fall completely through, but things are about in order now to move ahead. There wont be a lot going on at the old school for a little while, due to getting these other businesses in production mode, but it also will be on a quick timeline. These folks have gotten to know us, met a few other folks around town, and they are definitely sold on our Community, people that are willing to help out and work together. Im sorry I couldnt say anything earlier, but due to legalities, Ryan and I had to keep a tight lip on all this. there will be more to come on all this quickly, ill keep everyone updated on this here. My thanks to Ryan for being the one in the right place at the right time, and being involved in things to run across this. Were in the infancy stage of all this, but were keeping the faith up that everything will fall into place and happen as planned. i most likely missed something trying to be as short as i could, but thanks for everyones patience!
