Sorry I haven’t replied to anyone before now, I left my glasses at the Adelphi last night and I been like Mr Magoo all day, couldn’t read emails or reply to them. Just been down to collect them now and I can see again! Last night was unbelievable for all of the guys in the band and it was you fella’s that made it all special. So brilliant to see so many wonderful young faces we ain’t seen for years and big thanks to Sean coming from Manchester and Spike driving from Merseyside and then driving all the way back after the gig, incredible. A packed Adelphi with so much dancing and singing, that’s my idea of heaven. Thanks to you all, you are wonderful. Huge thanks to all the truly great Hull musicians who contributed in different ways from good old Hugh Whittaker sitting all evening on the door (crappest job of the night and cold), John Rowley getting the CDs of Eddie’s poetry album in for us, to the amazing performances of Ted Key and Eddie Twang, John Senior on piano and Frankie Banham on sax. Thank you all. Big credit too for Wendy, Paul and the rest of the guys at the Adelphi who did a magnificent job on what was a busy night. Rumble audiences were always pretty good at drinking. Last night was another example of the power of rockabilly, what did we ever do before a certain young man cut a certain record at Sun records in 1954? Life must have been crap before then.
