Sorry I was a lazy butt last night. I was able to whip out - TopicsExpress

Sorry I was a lazy butt last night. I was able to whip out almost 400 miles with a fairly late (nearly 3:00PM) start. Much of it was night driving. I can roll well at night. There are fewer distractions at night and the larger vehicles sort of communicate with each other when passing. I have the buttons on my steering wheel to do that with. I dont have a CB radio and dont think Ill get one. We didnt turn on the radio, CD player, or any other listening device. Just set the cruise (actually Cruse) control and let her roll. I could have gone longer if needed, but, I was happy to set the air when we got here. We must have been tired. I got up after 2:00PM and Kathy got up quite a bit later than that. Betty is the only one we have talked to since we parked at White Shell. We need to get out and say hi to the rest of the folks here tomorrow. The truth was, we were having such a good time, we didnt miss White Shell at all. I dont think we will be going back to Lazy Acres in NC. Those people were about the coldest RV Park people we have ever had to deal with. Ronnie and Liz came over for a couple hour visit. You would have thought they were moving in and The Park wanted to collect for them being there. I mentioned that I got stuck between the car and the side of the trailer last night. We have a close fitting garage that requires us to tie down our car to keep it from dancing while we are going down the road. We do that with 2 1/2 inch cargo straps attached to floor rings that are attached to the trailer frame. We pass the strap through the front wheel on the drivers side, toss the slack across to the other side, put it (from the inside to the outside) through that wheel, take out all of the slack, and ratchet it super tight. When I squatted down to pass the strap through the wheel, I was able to accomplish that. In the process, I wedged my butt between the car and the wall. I dont have a whole lot of leg strength. There was no sky hook to pull myself up with. Kathy was about to get some help when I wiggled myself forward enough to reach a cargo strap holding our storage items to pull myself up. I wasnt scared, only frustrated. I knew Kathy wasnt going to leave me there while she drove to Jacksonville. She would never made it out of all of those trees or down I-95. She isnt ready for the drivers seat yet. Im thinking about writing to The Governor of South Carolina. I-95 is supposed to be six lane from end to end. Florida did it. Even backwoods Georgia did it. You cross the state line into SC and you had better hang on to the steering wheel and your dentures. That interstate highway is narrow with little to no shoulder in many places. The surface is broken badly in so many places. You can tell the truckers that ride that road a lot. They often spend miles and miles in the left lane. It was at least as bad as I-90 across Montana. Kathy refuses to ever ride that route again. Kathy and I just decided that we will be going to Flagler Beach tomorrow. Everything is still loaded from our trip from NC. All we have to do is START OUR ENGINE, pull in our slides, raise our jacks, turn my seat around, press the D, release the parking brake, and hammer down. It is a short ride, but you can be sure I will enjoy it. I think Ill have a nanner and some cherries to call it a day. Please have a beautiful day filled with love +
