In a field of four Minnesota-based college hockey programs, the smallest one of all, the one thats closer to Canada than the Twin Cities, came to town for a weekend and wreaked havoc. Bemidji State is the best team in Minnesota right now. —St. Paul Pioneer Press This past weekend, the Beaver men’s hockey team won the 2015 North Star College Cup—beating two nationally ranked teams, including the #1 team in the nation. Hundreds of alumni and supporters cheered the Beavers on to victory Friday against the #4 ranked University of Minnesota-Duluth and again Saturday in the championship game versus #1 ranked Minnesota State University-Mankato. Freshmen goalie Michael Bitzer stopped 54-of-55 shots on the weekend and was named Tournament MVP. Congratulations to the team and to everyone in Beaver Nation. We share pride in this accomplishment.
