Sorry for a weeklong absence here... Stubborn as I am I taxid back home from Kratie with my 1/2 household of luggage, abandoning Blue Mommy, and jumped on Fat Baby for a ridiculously hurried 1500 km hike to&from Pakse, Laos incl. 100 km of detours to avoid the dangerous road works on RN7 and RN6. Thus discovering the scarred landscape between Stung Treng and Tbeng Meanchey due to savage logging (sorry no photos of that, was in a (lost) race to arrive in Kampong Thom before the night...). Same devastating impression as I got when I traveled through Ivory Coast (West-Africa) in the 90s, another famous case of savage forest destruction (mainly to grow cocoa but often nothing at all, just like here: I barely met any plantations North of Kampong Thom). Still have not recovered from the moonscape experience in spite of the party yesterday :-( PS some comments beside the photos below...
