Sorry for the delayed update... There was kind of an overlap. So, they have removed the PICC line and placed the new Broviac central line. Then, they spent over two hours dealing with extensive scar tissue/adhesions just to gain proper access to the area that needed to be addressed. Then, Dr. Puder came out and filled us in on what exactly he found in there. Basically, at this point, the narrowed section causing all these issues is nonfunctional and ischemic, meaning that it is thickened and does not have adequate blood supply in order to function and move food through it. So he has to remove it entirely. Thankfully, it is not a whole lot of bowel, only 4 cm. Then, he will taper the dilated portion down to match up with the other side and reconnect them. This will take a few more hours, so we will be waiting for a while. I will keep you posted when we get our next update. Thanks for praying!
