Sorry if this seems preachy, but Needed to write this: Everyday my inbox is full of messages from young people wanting advice. People who are pondering making unconventional, hard, or risky choices that may defy family, parental structures, and paths that have been decided for them or by them. They write to me because I guess they feel I can relate. I consider that a humongous privilege. Heres the hard part. I love that you reach out to me, but I cant tell you what to do, I never will. It would be disrespectful to your family, and take away from a choice that either way, you need to make. Only you. All I can say to you is what I say to anyone who is considering a tough choice. Whatever it is, comedy, acting, painting, mountain climbing, singing, dancing....whatever it is that you dream of...think about it, and then think about other things that you can do. If you can do anything else and be happy, then do that something else. Only follow your dream of it is quite literally the only thing, THE only thing that makes you happy. Those are the only dreams worth following and that is the only decision that will truly and fully be yours to claim, suffer, succeed and rejoice in. I hope this helps. I know its not what a lot of you writing in may want to hear, but its honestly the best I can offer. The rest will be up to you, your karma, and the strength and stubbornness of your belief.
