Sorry it has been so long since my last update... Ill start - TopicsExpress

Sorry it has been so long since my last update... Ill start somewhat where we left off! After six IV attempts WITH ultrasound we decided to try a midline before going with a picc line. We successfully got a midline placed and working so we used that for the whole week and I went home with it to use it for my scs! One less poke! But... Nothing can ever be easy. About 4 days after finishing ketamine, I began getting extreme pain, burning, and low grade fevers. The Friday night my entire midline broke :( Saturday we went to the ER and had it pulled since it was now a Petri dish of bacteria the ER doc called my pain doc and he said to give my arm a rest and Ill give him a call tomorrow, we will be talking about permanent IV acces, I.e. a port. Yes, you read correctly, we do have a date set for the trial scs finally! I will get my trial November 25th and the permanent (crossing our fingers this works) mid December! I am glad that we are finally getting it and I hope I can get some relief. This last ketamine treatment was not as successful as my first one, but I rocked it once again. I took probably 200+ laps. I was glad that another crps patient whom Ive grown to know what also doing ketamine just a few doors down so it was fun to spend a little time together. Although he has been having a fairly hard time, him and his mom could really use some prayers! I think I went in with higher pain this time, so it was harder to get it down to the level I was at last time. I was still so pleased with the pain relief I have gotten. I do still have painful pins and needles (like when your foot falls asleep) constantly. Ive had then since we did the last nerve block to completely shut down the leg and muscle spasms. It was interesting to see how differently ketamine affects me compared to others. I never got sick, I am able to watch movies, write, be on my phone, and Facebook. Some people probably would have a hard time telling I was on ketamine. I think my body metabolizes it at a crazy rate!! I did get a couple cases of the giggles for an hour or so, a lot of nurses, visitors, and of course my mom got a good kick out of it. Well thats about all I have for now (I know, it was kinda long). I will give my doctor a call tomorrow to figure out a plan for IV access and well go from there! I hope everyone is doing well! Prayers and love to all! ❤️
