Sorry to hear that Most Holy Trinity RC Church will be closed and merged with St Johns, though I was expecting this to happen. Havent told my mom, Rita Bohack Gawron, yet. My mothers immediate family association goes back to 1906 when her father and grandparents moved from Brooklyn to Yonkers, living first at 444 Walnut Street and then 50 Mulberry Street. Her parents were married there on Sunday April 30, 1916 (certificate), My parents married there on Saturday September 11, 1948 (my mom walking down the aisle with her brother Vincent). My mom went to school there (my moms 1st grade 1925 class photo ... she is on the left leaning against the railing). Father Cech was my grandfathers 1st cousin (portrait of Father/Monsignor Cech). He was Asst Pastor when my mom was a young girl in school. Later Father Cech was the Pastor. The last photo is of my mom in the 1940s in the wedding party of a friend coming out of the church. Many family baptisms, marriages and funerals. After my mom married we moved to another part of Yonkers and became associated to St Paul the Apostle Church and School. My mom never forgot her roots though and still speaks fondly of those years living in the community that was and is Most Holy Trinity.
