#Sorrynotsorry for this long post and possible run ons, BUT hoping someone can take a deep breath of relief with me. In our Bible study yesterday we learned that Expectations can kill our Joy!!!. Rarely do our expectations actually meet reality anyway, ya know?!?! Anyhoo, I personally shared about my struggle of having to find the perfect pair of Christmas pajamas for my own girls. Still needed to decorate cookies, and just forget about the Christmas cards. Its our tradition!!!, I told myself. ALL THE WHILE one of our precious children from our church family is in an ICU fighting for his life. Not to mention, my familys own loss over the past 6 months. I literally sobbed and realized that my expectations and my attitude were really jacked up!!!! Sooo.. I was thinking about all the things we discussed and about the expectations we have for a perfect Christmas and I took my own expectations back to the original manger scene. Thats where I found myself completely humbled. #1 Jesus was wrapped in a swaddling blanket, not a $60 pair of Christmas pajamas. #2 Mary wasnt worried about Christmas cards or getting the perfect Christmas morning pic, she simply pondered all the great events in her heart. #3 She didnt have to share baby Jesus all over social media, she had angels sharing it with the completely unexpected and forgotten people in society that JESUS had come for them...us!! #4 Joseph wasnt stressing over gifts or money, he had the most valuable gift society would ever know. Let our expectations not be that of what the world says it has to be!! Let us be expectant of what Christ can do through us this Christmas. Be still and quiet and find great joy in a simplified Christmas. >
