South Africa cantered to a nine-wicket victory against Pakistan in the first Twenty20 international at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday night. Chasing a modest target of 99, South Africa made short work of it coasting home in the 15th over despite losing Amla in the third over. Skipper Faf du Plessis joined Quinton de Kock to share in an unfinished 83-run stand for he second wicket in 12.1 overs. Quinton struck two sixes and three boundaries in his 38-ball 48 while Faf du Plessis crack four boundaries and a six in his 40-ball 37. South Africa restricted Pakistan to 98-9 in 20 overs. Umar Akmal hit 49 off 41 balls with four boundaries and a six to save the blushes for Pakistan. Opting to bat first, Pakistan never recovered after losing both openers Shehzad and Maqsood early. They lost skipper Hafeez with just four on the board and Afridi was fourth out at 21 in the seventh over. It was a shambolic batting display by Pakistan barring for Akmals defiant knock. Steyn claimed three for 15 while Tsotsobe and Tahir picked up two apiece.
