South Australian Police booked 113 motorists for illegally - TopicsExpress

South Australian Police booked 113 motorists for illegally travelling in marked bike lanes. While there are no doubt some who were aware their actions were illegal and chose to take the risk regardless, wed hazard a guess that many simply were unaware of the road rule forbidding it. Did you know that no state (or territory) has mandatory inclusion of bicycle related content in driver licence testing? Cycling related content typically falls into the general pool of questions, so it may come up, or it may not. With nearly 20% of Australias population riding at least once a week, riding a bike is not a fringe activity. It is a well established alternate mode of transportation and as such should be recognised with mandatory inclusion in licence testing procedures, both theoretical and practical. Both the Queensland Inquiry into Cycling Issues and the ACTs Inquiry into Vulnerable Road Users recommended mandatory content inclusion - its something we strongly endorse also. adelaidenow.au/news/south-australia/sa-police-fine-113-motorists-for-travelling-in-dedicated-bike-lanes-for-more-than-50-metres/story-fni6uo1m-1226975759373?nk=4526a1909277c6d1500af4056944421a
