Southafrica Pakistani & Indian people Apply in America NONIMMIGRANT VISAS (NIV) STEP ONE: Complete the Visa Application Form Complete the Visa Application Form (DS-160): ceac.state.gov/genniv/. Print out the Confirmation Page and bring it to the Consular Section for your appointment. STEP TWO: Pay the Nonrefundable Application Fee In order to make a payment, you must create an account, click on “schedule an appointment,” and answer all the questions until you are navigated to the payment options page. You may pay either by credit card online or by cash at an ABSA bank. To pay by credit card: Contact the Visa Information Service Center (VISC) at 087 550 2160 between 8 AM and 8 PM Monday to Friday, or visit the website southafrica.usvisa-info to make a payment. Note that you will go to Step Three immediately after paying the fee online. To pay with cash: Go to southafrica.usvisa-info to print out a unique deposit slip instruction sheet which you will take to a branch of ABSA Bank to make the payment. STEP THREE: Schedule Your Appointment If you pay the application fee by credit card, the website will redirect you immediately to the appointment page where you will schedule your appointment. If you pay the application fee at ABSA Bank, log back in to southafrica.usvisa-info and enter the MRV number that appears at the bottom of the deposit slip. This will take you to the appointment page where you will schedule your appointment. STEP FOUR: Print out the Appointment Confirmation Sheet And bring it, along with the following documents, to your interview: • A valid passport • The Visa Application confirmation page (DS-160) • A recent, front-facing, 50 mm x 50 mm, color photograph with a white background IMMIGRANT VISAS (IV) Important Notice: The DS-230 paper form will no longer be accepted for cases filed after September 1, 2013. It has been replaced by the DS-260 (https://ceac.state.gov/iv/). In general, any applicant for an immigrant visa must be the beneficiary of an approved petition. Certain applicants such as priority workers, investors, certain special immigrants, and diversity immigrants can petition on their own behalf. All other intending immigrants must have a relative or potential employer petition for them in the United States. The next open enrollment period will be in October 2014. There is only one legitimate site to apply for the DV, and initial entry into the lottery is free: dvlottery.state.gov.There are thousands of scam-sites; don’t become a victim! Immigrant visas are processed on an appointment basis. At the time of the interview, the applicant should be present in front of a consular officer. A child must be accompanied by a legal representative or a legal guardian. The U.S. Consulate in Johannesburg also processes immigrant visas for residents of Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, and Botswana, as well as third-country nationals who are legally and habitually resident in Southern Africa.
