Southbound US 69 traffic was temporarily halted during the lunch - TopicsExpress

Southbound US 69 traffic was temporarily halted during the lunch hour today when a large crane being hauled on an 18-wheeler hit the westbound I-20 steel bridge over US 69 near Lindale. The crane, which belongs to a TxDOT contractor, was quickly removed and traffic returned to normal flow. The bridge sustained only minimal visible damage but a TxDOT engineer has been dispatched to the scene for a more thorough inspection. At this time, the structure is deemed safe and remains open to traffic. Any additional action will be determined once the inspection is completed.
