#SouthernMiss Baseball Notes from Last Week: - Golden Eagles improved to 30-22 (17-10 3rd Place) on the season with the 2-1 series victory over East Carolina. - Connor Barron extended his hitting streak to 8 games - a career long. Scored 5 of the Golden Eagles 13 runs in the ECU series. - Barron scored the game-winning run in the Sunday contest with one of his three tallies. His only RBI of the weekend was the game winner in Saturdays nightcap in the bottom of the 9th. His 3 hits in Sundays game tied a season high. - Christian Talley registered his second complete game of the season. Limited ECU to a run on six hits and three walks with 10 strikeouts. - Marked the third double-digit strikeout performance for Talley on the season. Retired the last seven batters he faced and fanned five of the final six Pirates in the contest. - Golden Eagles have now won 7 of 9 league series. - The 15-inning contest in the first game of the doubleheader marked the longest contest between the Golden Eagles and the Pirates. - The two teams played 33 innings of baseball in a 24-hour period. - The series finale triumph gave the Golden Eagles their 30th victory of the season. It is the 13th-straight season Southern Miss has captured at least 30 games. - Michael Sterling has now been hit by a pitch a team-best 17 times this season. He has now been hit by a pitch 50 times in his career. - Mason Robbins went 6-for-13 with 3 RBI this weekend including a season-best four hits in the series opener. - The 17 C-USA victories is the most for the club since going 20-10 during the 2005 season. - Golden Eagles head into the final week of the regular season by renewing its rivalry with Charlotte. The two clubs will meet for the first time since 2004 and the Golden Eagles lead the series 26-18.
