Sovereign. The dictionary says it means “a supreme ruler, especially a monarch”. I imagine there are many leaders on this planet that would put themselves in this category, for various reasons. Ruling with an iron fist and punishing those who don’t agree or believe the same way... There is One who is sovereign. God, who reigns in Heaven and Earth. And Him being sovereign is not affected by anything. No matter what our circumstances are, whether things are incredibly good or incredibly bad, He is still ruler over all. And unlike the earthly rulers mentioned earlier, public opinion doesn’t change His might. If the economy is not doing well during a president’s term in office, or the unemployment rate is high, or their foreign policy doesn’t line up with the American public, then he is viewed as not a very good president. But with God, our sentiment about Him doesn’t change His majesty. This is something that we all need to be reminded of from time to time, and I know that I struggle with keeping the head knowledge of who God is in my heart knowledge too. Living every day knowing that when the car breaks down He is the same sovereign Lord He is when I am asked to contribute my musical abilities in worship. He is there in the good, the bad and yes, even the ugly. If we can continue striving to recognize this in the every day details and not just the WOW moments, He will reveal more and more of Himself and prayerfully His being sovereign will come into question less and less, and our heart knowledge will guide us through any scenario.... #SovereignGod #LordOverAll #heartknowledge
