Sovereignty and International Law So how do we restore respect for state sovereignty and for international law? We are brothers and sisters inextricably tied together through families, business, social media, the internet, by finances, trade, commerce, treaties, natural resource requirements and by economics, but we behave more like Romulus and Remus of Roman legend even though we want basically the same thing for our peoples - a beautiful city on the hill (peace, security, prosperity, education, health, happiness, etc.). How do we change the world? There needs to be a strong mechanism in place at the global level that is not dependent on the hegemonic strength of one state, but is broadly representative of and able to universally enforce accountability of international law.
