Space Shuttle Columbia (STS-3) at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico landing site in March 1982. Prepping for transport back to Florida Kennedy Center. I was at the WSMR runway (Northrup Field) for a week before the landing, for the landing, and then for a week after the landing and when it took off with the 747 for the return trip. I was there officially as a newspaper staff photographer/writer -- press-pass and all. Still have all of the press packages and press releases from that event.
