#Spanish-speaking families needed for National Needs Assessment! Looking for Hispanic patients or caregivers, preferably whose primary language is Spanish, and African-American patients or caregivers to participate in a 30-60 minute phone interview. Patient information will remain confidential and results will be reported in the aggregate. As a thank you to those who participate, you will receive a $50 gift certificate. Interested patients should e-mail Creagh Miller ([email protected]) and include their telephone number, whether they are a parent or patient, and what minority group they represent. If a patient does not have access to e-mail or you have any questions, please contact Ann Forsberg [email protected] or 508-400-6686. Thank you for considering this request. This request has been made by Randy Curtis, former HFNC Board Member and current President of the Hemophilia Council of CA. More info on the study below: The National Hemophilia Program Coordinating Center (NHPCC) funded by a grant from the Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) conducted a national needs assessment of patients treated at the federally funded hemophilia treatment centers (HTCs) to evaluate patients’ perception of the care they receive and barriers to care. The survey demonstrated that minority patients had more barriers to accessing care. The NHPCC worked with the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) Multicultural Committee and staff from Hemophilia Federation of America (HFA) to develop a telephone interview that will help us better understand the needs of the Hispanic and African-American populations so that we can improve their care. We have contracted Group Health, part of the Center for Community Health and Evaluation, a well-respected research group. The interviewer will be Creagh Miller who is fluent in Spanish. Improving the care provided to minority populations is a national priority and any help you could give us in recruiting a few patients would be greatly appreciated.
