Spartan Health Sciences University School of Medicine welcomes 38 new students to its Pre-Med and Medical programs. The students were officially welcome in a white coat ceremony that took place in the National Skills Developmental Center(NSDC) in Vieux Fort on Saturday,September 13,2014. The event was attended by university officials ; including faculty,staff,students and family members of the new students. The event also featured Dr.Delphina Vernor who was the keynote speaker at the ceremony. Dr. Vernor is a Saint Lucian, and a graduate of the Spartan School of Medicine in 2012. She took and passed both steps of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE) and returned to Spartan where she lectured for 8 months. She recently started an internship program at Victoria hospital in Castries,Saint Lucia. In her speech, Dr.Vernor described her experience as a student at Spartan as one of a lifetime. She encouraged the students to study hard and they will see their dreams realized at Spartan . Dr.Vernor dream as a young high school student was always to become a Medical Doctor. She thanked Spartan University for giving her a scholarship to pursue her dream of becoming a medical doctor. Dr. Vernor plans to go back to the US to specialize after completion of the Internship program at Victoria Hospital. Dr.Ben Alemina, Associate Professor, Director of Students/International Affairs.
