Speaking of the need for horse rescue -- last summer I covered a story about a man who had starved five of his horses to death. I just found out that he has been sentenced to serve jail time. In the article Im attaching below, Colorado Humane Society Inspector Brett Smith is quoted as saying, “This was one of worst cases of animal cruelty we’ve seen. This man starved these horses, and because of their severe condition, we could not save all of them. And this is not the only favorable punishment for animal abuse in the area this year. The Conejos County community has proven over and over that they will not tolerate animal abuse or neglect.” Two of the horses, a mare and her foal, were so seriously malnourished they had to be euthanized. coloradohumane.org/news-and-events/press-release/owner-starving-horses-sentenced-spend-time-jail
