Special Olympics founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver visited Ellisville State School in 1968 and saw the need for an organized effort to foster inclusion, acceptance and unity for and with people with intellectual disabilities in Mississippi. We earned our official charter in 1975, and today we join Special Olympics programs around the world in honoring the inspiration, impact and indomitable spirit of Eunice Kennedy Shriver.
