Special Opposition Caucus Meeting A Very Important Opposition - TopicsExpress

Special Opposition Caucus Meeting A Very Important Opposition Caucus Meeting is on at Parliament. The Opposition Caucus is a meeting of all Members of Parliament that belong to the Opposition. What is special about the meeting is that it will be attended by all leaders (Party Presidents) of political parties represented in Parliament. This meeting last happened about 2 years ago. This meeting comes in the wake of a renewed resurgence of cooperation among Members of the Opposition of different political parties in Parliament. There have been meetings between the Chief Opposition Whip, Hon. Cecilia Atim Ogwal and Members of specific parties represented in the House. The first such meeting she had took place on February 26 2014 with Members of the Uganda People Congress (UPC). She has since met with the Democratic Members as well. Both parties testified after the meetings that they were very fruitful. For the UPC specifically, they said how the meeting helped them start to bridge the gaps between themselves in their party. Even the DP Members were just as happy about their meeting with Hon. Ogwal. The fruits of those meetings are already showing as the Caucus meetings so far held have been attended more responsively than in the past. It is believed that with the Caucus meeting tomorrow, the vibrancy in inter-party relations in and beyond Parliament among the opposition can only improve. The Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Hon. Wafula Ogutu and the members of parliament have received the Party leaders that include FDCs Muntu, UPCs Otunnu, DPs Mao, Bishop Zac Niringyiye (Civil Society) and Dr. Besigye. We shall update you on the proceedings shortly. Nabilah Naggayi Sempala, Shadow Minister for Information.
