Special Prayer Requested! I got word this morning from dear friends Larry and Donna Burnett from Texarkana, who has a son that was shot in Afghanistan back in 2008 has had follow up surgery to continue treatment of his condition. Andy Burnett is a paraplegic due to a snipers bullet that he took in his neck while serving our country. Larry says that, up to now, Andy has had a happily ever after story; but now his latest surgery has taken a downturn. His wife and family are at his side at the hospital....waiting and praying. For some unknown reason, after his surgery a few days ago, Andy is not coming out of the surgery as planned. The following is from his father and our dear friend, Larry Burnett: something mysterious has been happening over the last 2 days; and, the doctors, so far, have been entirely baffled. Andy has been becoming increasingly out of it as his temp rises from unknown causes. He is, at this point, essentially what the doctors call obtunded. That is doctor speak for incoherent. And, we have hit the weekend at the hospital - never a good time to manage a health crisis. These are great people here on the staff, but I am very concerned.....As I finished the last paragraph, I had to stop writing and run back a short distance to Andy’s room where an Emergency Medical Response Team had suddenly assembled. Elizabeth was already in the middle of the fray very efficiently barking out information to the doctors and nurses who had come together to get them all up to speed quickly - while wiping back her own tears....I am keenly aware at this late hour tonight (now 11:45) that I just can’t fix this for Andy. None of us can. But, we all know the Fixer. Would you please simply ask His help for Andy when you get this email. And I will let you know when He’s finished doing His work so we can celebrate together. They were hovering and doing and discussing important stuff. And I could do nothing except put a comforting arm around Lizzy’s shoulder. But, after a time, and some additional oxygen, and some new doctor’s orders for more tests etc, things did calm down. And right this minute, here the three of us sit in a somewhat darker and calmer room – once again waiting. I got the news via email from Larry at 1:16AM Saturday morning. Will you take a minute and pray for this young man who has paid such a price in the defense of our country? And, please add his name to any and every prayer request list you have contact with. Our prayers and heart-felt concerns are now with Andy Burnett and his family.
