Spending Memorial Day weekend moving! Its my least favorite sport... In the process, have come across many old family photos and artifacts including photos taken by my dad during WW II while fighting in the South Pacific. Hopefully, by next Memorial Day, I will be organized and settled in enough to post some of these amazing photos. Also remembering Joe Rosenthal, who shot the iconic Iwo Jima photo. When my parents moved into an assisted living facility, he was one of the first friends they made there, sharing a table at dinner. My mom was miserable having to leave her home, but chats with Joe and his tales of life as a news photographer made her transition much happier.
