Spent a week in the Porcupine Mountains (Porkies) in the U.P. the first week of October 2014. I stayed in a cabin that can be rented from the DNR. They leave you an axe and a saw to gather the wood for the heating stove (hence the still life photo). I was along the untamed Little Carp River under the forest canopy. I hope the pics allow you to feel a little of the sense of place as the river hurries to reach Gitchee Gumee.
