Speyside win Tobago InterCol Speyside Secondary confirmed their dominance of Tobago for a second successive season when they edged Signal Hill Secondary 5-2 at the Plymouth Recreation Ground yesterday to win the Coca-Cola InterCol Tobago Zone title. Brandon Benjamin notched a double for Speyside, and got support in front of goal from Weah Adams, Kerry McDonald and Quane Frank, who each had one goal. Signal Hill’s Akil Frank and Axcel George also got on the scoresheets, but could not help their team get into the national playoffs. Scarborough Secondary lifted the Tobago Zone Girls InterCol title, though. They put four unanswered goals past Bishop’s High School to lift the Tobago title. Aalliyah Charles, Jamila Edwards, Njemile Charles and Jeanille Lawrence all found the net to allow their team an easy victory, also at Plymouth. Back in Trinidad, the other girls match scheduled for yesterday, a clash between St Augustine Secondary and Bishop’s Anstey East at Bourg Mulatresse, San Juan, was postponed to today. But Central Zone boys action was in full flight, with Carapichaima Secondary squeezing past Presentation Chaguanas 4-2 on kicks from the penalty mark after failing to break a 2-2 regulation time deadlock. They will face Chaguanas North Secondary in the Central final after the latter disposed of ASJA Boys 3-0 through goals by Matthais Williams, Phillip John, and Isaiah Cadogan—who scored from the penalty spot—to earn the other final berth. Today will see action in the South and North Zones, with St Anthony’s meeting East Mucurapo at 3.30 p.m. at St Mary’s Ground on Serpentine Road, St Clair, while Trinity College tackle St Mary’s College at Fatima’s Mucurapo ground. And in the South Zone, Premier League and Big Four winners Naparima College take on Pleasantville Secondary from 2 p.m. at Manny Ramjohn Stadium, two hours before Presentation College San Fernando and St Benedict’s College clash at the same Marabella venue.
