Spiritual Abuse That Can Thwart Our Destiny & Lifes Vision: Spiritual Abuse through Jealousy and Envy Saul and David - due to Jealousy, Saul blatantly physically, verbally, and mentally abused David. Saul also sought to kill David with words and literal actions of striving to take David’s life (1Samuel 19). This type of abuse occurs this all the time in church, yet many people tend to excuses for it. We will not hold leaders accountable because we are bound to a false loyalty of touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm (1Chronicles 16-22, Psalms 105:15). We do not realize that because of disobedience, God rejected Saul and stripped him of his throne. Not to mention, the Spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul. Therefore, the honor of who Saul was as a leader or one being able to adequately be led by the Lord was gone. 1 Samuel 18:12 - Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with David but had departed from Saul. 1Samuel 15:26-28 - And Samuel said to Saul, I will not return with you; for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel. And as Samuel turned to go away, Saul seized the skirt of Samuel’s mantle, and it tore. And Samuel said to him, The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you this day and has given it to a neighbor of yours who is better than you.
