Spl schemes to develop hilly, unconnected areas: Taj URI, JUNE 17: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Mr. Taj Mohi ud Din today said that the Government is paying special attention to the development of hilly and so far unconnected areas of the State. He said many exclusive schemes and budgetary provisions like Tribal Sub Plan, Border Area Development Programme etc. have been devised for the purpose. Addressing public meetings at Chandanwari and Bujithala today, the Minister said that stress is laid on covering these areas under the ambit of schemes in drinking water distribution, road connectivity, power distribution, health, PDS etc. sectors. At Bujithala, Mr. Taj asked the people to extend a helping hand to the Government in the successful execution and implementation of welfare schemes aimed at improving their lot. He assured people that their demands would be met in a phased manner. The Minister also reviewed the pace of work on eight kilometer Bujithala road, connecting the village to rest of the area. He was told that work on the Rs. 1.77 cr road project is in advanced stage and so far Rs. 1.22 cr have also been expended on it. This would be for the first time that people of the village would have the benefits of road connectivity. Mr. Taj was on a three day visit to the area. Yesterday he visited the hilly areas of Uri constituency including Choolan, Danisaydan, Dara-gutaliyan, Zamboorpatan etc. He took an on the spot inspection of the development works undertaken in these areas and sought direct feedback from the people there. He also addressed a series of public meetings at these places. At Zamboorpatan, Mr. Taj announced release of Rs. 48 lacs out of his Constituency Development Fund for completing the work on the construction of a local school. Senior officers of district administration and engineers of several wings accompanied the Minister during the visit.
