Sports Development Officer Mandeni Local Municipality - Durban, KwaZulu-Natal Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following job opportunities: SPORTS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER MUNICIPAL MANAGERS DEPARTMENT Basic Salary: R ll 949.00 p.m. (Task 10) PN 8/ 2014 Minimum requirements: A Grade 12 certificate and a National Diploma in Sport Management Science or Sport Administration and 1 to 2 years experience in sport environment demonstrable leadership role within the sporting forums and firsthand knowledge of the municipalitys sporting activities to be an added advantage valid Code B Drivers licence computer literacy Duties: promote sport activities and healthy lifestyle amongst the community establish Sport and Recreational programmes to meet the Municipal objectives formulate. prioritize and observe local and district events calendar liaise with Provincial and National bodies responsible for the administration of sport codes assist and empower sports clubs and sport bodies to access donor funding liaise with sport bodies and other stakeholders on establishing sport structures in the community ensure the compilation and updating of database of sport equipment facilitate and support sustainable capacity development in initiatives in sport plan. manage and organize a ll sporting activities and events promote mass participation in sport. especially the previously disenfranchised (youth. women. disabled and the children) through working in partnership with schools. community groups and centres ensure that sport tournaments are planned. organized and managed properly within approved budget promote club formations and establishment of associations for a ll sport codes in the municipal area coordinate the management and maintenance of sports facilities within the municipal area provide monthly. quarterly and annual reports engage the co-operation of District Municipality. all sports bodies and federations in supporting sport and recreation initiatives facilitate and co-ordinate the establishment of Sport structures at ward level and in the local municipal area facilitate and support capacity development initiatives motivate young people to take advantage of opportunities in sport negotiate and resolve conflict between the municipality and stakeholders on matters of Sport and Recreation organize local and district games including SALGA Games ensure the sustainable and effective utilization of facilities within the Municipal area encourage implementation of International and National best practices in Sport and Recreation within the municipal area of jurisdiction with respect to sport transformation.
