Meanwhile, the Nationals managed to pile up 13 hits and 13 runs and made minced meat out of the Mets 13-2, the Giants stopped the Rockies 5-2, rookie sensation Yasiel Puig piled up four more hits to help push the Dodgers past the Phillies 6-1, the Braves wrapped up a sweep of the Diamondbacks with a 6-2 win, and Jeff Mathis’ walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth handed the Marlins a 6-2 victory over the Padres. BROOM SERVICE: THREE ORIOLES GO DEEP, O’S SWEEP YANKEES Three Orioles did yard work Sunday, including Chris Davis who hit his league-leading 31st of the season, and Baltimore completed a sweep of the Yankees with a 4-2 win. PAUL BEARERS: CLIPPERS WILL HOLD ON TO ALL-STAR POINT GUARD NBA sources say Chris Paul will agree to a five-year, $107 million deal to stay with the Los Angeles Clippers. According to league rules, the All-Star point guard cannot officially sign his new contract until July 10, but he was able to verbally agree to the deal as of midnight last night. ESPN reported Saturday that Paul’s representatives have notified teams not to bother attempting to contact the guard because he planned to re-sign with the Clippers. COURT GESTURES: BRYANT, NASH HOPING TO WOO HOWARD Free agent center Dwight Howard confirmed over the weekend he will meet with five teams interested in his services, including the Los Angeles Lakers, who specifically requested to speak with him after he’s heard what the other four have to say – and pay! Howard is scheduled to meet with the Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, and Dallas Mavericks before sitting down with L.A.’s team of people who hope to persuade him to stick with the Lakers, including Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash.
