Middle School Basketball… It pretty much was a night of sweeps. Honea Path @ Sanders Yellow Jackets G: Sanders 35 – Honea Path 33… In a game that went right down to the wire, the Sanders girls took a 35-33 win over Honea Patch getting revenge for an earlier loss by 22 points to HP… Jada Turner had 13 and T’kaylah Woodruff had 11 to lead Sanders… This makes Sanders 7-4 on the season and HP 8-3. The Sanders boys took a 46-28 win over Honea Path last night leading from start to finish… Dra Copeland’s 11 points led Sanders… Jordan Woodruff added 9 and Xavier McGowan had 8 points for sanders… The win made Sanders 11-0 on the season and allowed them to capture this year’s Little River Conference Championship for this year. The Lady Tigers of LMS jumped out to a 10-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back as they took a 39-11 win over the Lady Panthers of HT…. Jada Young led all scorers with 19 points… Others scoring for LMS were Cassidy Pliai with 8 points, Aija Davis 5, Kierney Allen 4, Brookland Grant 2 and Kenaja Burnside 1…. For HT, Briana Curenton had 7 points and Zendiyah Gillian 4. B: LMS 55 – HT 21… The news wasn’t any better in boys’ action as LMS took a 55-21 win over the Panthers… LMS led 31-10 at the half and was never really threatened after that… Two players scored in double-digits for LMS, Christian Anderson with 15 points and Zhrece Anderson with 11… Others putting points on the board for LMS were. Shawn Rice with 8, Jaquavious Todd & Jervis Young each had 6, Carado Ray 4, Deonte Smith 3 & Javone Anderson 2…. For the HT Panthers led his team with 9 points… Devon Hubner added 6 points, while both Will Tinsley & Jay Rice had 3 points each. Gray Court-Owings Tigers @ Bell Street Red Wildcats G: BSR 12 – GCO 6… The BSR girls picked up their third win of the season as they defeated the GCO girls 12-6… BSR was lead in scoring by Shy Haskell & Pera Moore who scored 3 points each… Beth Wiggins, Adaline Stephens & Somaury Byrd added 2 each… For GCO, Paula Abrams had 4 points while Sasha Shaw had 2 points. B: BSR 50 – GCO 40… in boys’ action BSR took a 50-40 win over GCO but not without a fight… BSR led 32-17 at the half but GCO came out in the third quarter and outscored them 14-6 to get back in the game but just could not get any closer against the deeper BSR team… BSR had two players scoring in double-digits ad JD Payne had 14 points and Sam Tiller with 13… Three BSR players scored 5 points each, they were Skyeland Holsonback, Konnor Richardson & Jeremiah Boyd… Also scoring were Titus Hood with 4 points and both Marco Cunningham & Darian Bailey each contributed 2 points…. For GCO Jamaurice Lee led all scorers with 16 points… Zavon Barksdale added 9, Dante’ Garrett 8, Quintavious Larry 3 and both Nigel Owens & Rod Tribble had 2 each.
