Sposed to be playing a dnb set tonight. First one in a loooong time. I havent listened to dnb music intentionally and as a whole for a good few years. Only when out... so its either commercial radio dnb oozing through the ceiling whilst being dragged around some high-street mong-magnet, or stuff being played at an actual rave. The rave stuff feels like its evolved a lot further than the commercial-stuff. I wish I knew what the tunes were... Konichi is the name I always say but theres lots of people doing it. That stuff is actually amazing from an SE perspective now. Its like it finally sounds as if its all coming from the same unified sonic space like quality techno does. Its far less ramshackle-sounding compared to the old stuff (including the latest commercial stuff), which i used to think was a bad thing but I really appreciate a uniform sound now. It also thankfully managed to avoid that overly-tweaked advertising-sound in favour of something a million times more raw, which is something i learned to appreciate again, as music got glossier and less meaningful to me over recent years. i think its a compatible sound with my Korg. Might be wrong tho heh. Gonna give it a whirl today and see what comes out...
