Spouse/ Hospice-worker She immediately acknowledged that maybe this was why she was a nurse with Hospice, to be more able to handle this personal shocker. Her husband was actively dying, after very recent cancer diagnosis. Extremely quick ending. Her mind told her he was better off than the many who took so long dying, but her heart was wanting to keep him, her husband! here! --Difficult too for the young sons, uncontrollable enough while dad was alive; now what would happen… [Things can get worse! --The sons had an even more startling call when soon after that her car went off the road coming home after long hours at work, and now she was with her beloved husband again! Just like that! I wondered how she’d prayed: that she wouldn’t have to go through what so many of her patients did? That something would happen to help the boys learn more about life and death before…?? [Yes, we do expect more the death of a patient, not a caregiver on her way home from caring for patients. As neither did her own mom, often sick, expect her daughter to go before her. [--aren’t we funny, no matter how old, we still “expect”! “This is a recording”: If you really want to make God laugh, tell your plans for today! [If Hospice is thought to be not needed for patient or loved ones, it’s still good for the orders, a big advantage: for regulating/ changing and having medications --along with so many other supplies-- delivered, and Hospice can even get to doctors much more readily than “we” can, day and night and even weekends --imagine that! … stop being anxious and watchful, for I am your God. I give you strength, I bring you help Is 41:10
